Chestermere, Alberta is
located in Rocky View County. Most people who live here commute to Calgary,
Alberta for work.
Chestermere was first settled by a small amount of farmers until the Canadian Pacific Railway was introduced the area in the 1880s. The railroad brought many people to the area and by 1907 a dam and a canal system was built. The name of the area was changed to the Town of Chestermere in 1993 which led to another boom in population. On January 1st, 2015 the town officially became a city.
According to Statistic Canada’s 2011 census, Chestermere has a population of 14,824.
