Strathmore, Alberta, is located in southern Alberta, approximately 50 kilometers east of the City of Calgary.
Strathmore was first a hamlet for the Canadian Pacific Railroad when it arrived in the area in 1883. The area was named after a benefactor of the railroad, Claude Bowes-Lyon, who was the Earl of Strathmore. Strathmore was incorporated as village in 1908 and as a town in 1911.
According to Statistic Canada’s 2011 census, Strathmore has a population of 12,305.
